What We Think

Salespeople, Your Best Investment

Looking for ideas in which your company can invest for 2018? The answer could be sitting right in front of you. Invest in salespeople. Allow me to be your beacon of light: SALES PEOPLE PAY FOR THEMSELVES!

As you know, today companies, and rightfully so, are very invested in the Internet. It's important to be on the Internet to stay on the pulse of your customers’ needs and where your future customers may be. People are

shopping and buying at all hours of the day and night. Some of them are in your target market.

Investing in salespeople adds another weapon to your growth arsenal. No matter how convenient and data-driven the Internet is, there's nothing like a personal connection and a real, live relationship. Good salespeople can be your soundest spend. I know, I know; I have heard all the pros and cons about salespeople, and most of it comes from... salespeople.

Start with this: why do people go into sales? The answers are freedomindependencespeaking skills (I think this may be the worst reason; I prefer a good listener), unlimited income potential, and a bouquet of other reasons. Did I say unlimited income potential? This means the ability to make a lot of money. It also means the increased potential of revenue for the company! Top-line growth driven by good new sales and effective salespeople is like a MONEY-SMOOTHIE

I recently met with a highly successful CEO who understands sales better than any CEO I have ever met. He told me about a new sales group the company was investing in so that they could create new sales, new customers, and new sources of top-line company growth. Some might say that’s a high board leap, but not at all. It’s a brilliant investment because the new sales hires start paying for themselves with their first sale.

Companies exist and grow by having a vibrant, energetic, focused, strategic sales force that knows where the business is to be cultivated. You should be working in an environment that allows every employee to sell on behalf of the company. In upcoming blogs I will explain how easy it is to sell and make money for everyone.

Until then, keep this in your thoughts... According to the Department of Labor Statistics, 14.4 million people in the USA are employed in some sort of sales role. Another 1.5 million are sales managers.

There's a reason for this. Companies need to invest in salespeople. People that will go out and find a customer, cultivate a relationship, and sell them what they need; people that will grow their business so that you can grow yours.

Invest in sales people; they will pay for themselves.
